Confluence Gallery block party Sept. 5

Confluence Gallery and Art Center is throwing a block party on Friday, Sept. 5 to thank the community for helping the gallery buy its building at 104 Glover Street.

Bring the whole family to the celebration from 5-8 p.m. in the street in front of the gallery. One block of Glover Street will be closed for the party, which will include live music by Brad Pinkerton, Leah Larson and Paul Gitchos. Live art will also be featured, including face painting for children, henna tattoos, and artists painting and sketching.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. The event is free and everyone is welcome. Chairs are welcome too.

Confluence Gallery and Art Center conducted a capital campaign over the past two years to buy the building that has housed the gallery for many years. Hundreds of individuals contributed to the campaign, which ended successfully with the purchase of the building this year.

“We are so appreciative of the local support we received, and are grateful to live in a community that truly values the arts,” said Sybil Macapia, Confluence Gallery administrator. “Owning our building gives the gallery a secure future. This party is our way of saying thank you to everyone in the Methow Valley.”
Glover Street will be closed between Twisp Avenue and Second Avenue from 4-9 p.m. for the block party. For more information, call 997-2787.
