“Recreation Retreats” are the focus of this year’s Methow Valley Home Tour on August 7, offered by Confluence Gallery & Art Center. The hideaways featured on the tour will include architecture and structural designs that express the distinctive and spirited outdoor recreational style of the Methow Valley. Influenced by the unique beauty of our valley, these homes express the owner’s and builder’s love of nature in a functional and artistic way. The 2010 Home Tour focuses on homes built by people who come to pursue their passions – not to maintain their property. Some residences on the tour are second homes, others are homes built to accommodate a retired lifestyle focused on recreation and appreciation of the Methow Valley landscape.

Tickets for the Home Tour are $25 each or, to encourage carpooling, $80 for four tickets. They may be purchased at Confluence Gallery, 104 Glover Street, Twisp. Tickets are limited, so purchasing in advance is recommended. Confluence Gallery will be open the day before the tour, Friday, August 6, from 10am to 5pm and at 9am the morning of the tour, August 7, so that ticket holders can redeem their tickets for a tour map and brochure describing each house. As you pick up your maps, take the opportunity to enjoy the current exhibit at the gallery, “Weathering Change.” Proceeds from ticket sales support the exhibits and programs offered by Confluence Gallery & Art Center.
