09/12 & 13 - Shona Sculptors of Zimbabwe, Fifth annual weekend exhibit and sale of stone carvings. Dan Dittrich will talk about his latest trip to Zimbabwe Friday. Proceeds benefit the Shona carvers and Confluence Gallery.

09/9 - 10/14 - Painting Your Inner Vision with Cheryl Wrangle
This class encourages students to explore creativity with the aim of personalizing art works and making them more self-expressive. Multi-media projects will challenge habitual ways of seeing and working. Students will work with water-based paints, oil and/or chalk pastels, collage materials and drawing media such as colored pencil, and ink with pen or brush.
Tuesdays, September 9-October 14, 7-9:30 p.m. Tuition: $85. A supply list will be provided when registering.


09/10 - 10/15 - Acrylic Painting with Kathy Meyers
Learn the fundamentals of what artist Kathy Meyers describes as the “bad boy” of mediums. Acrylics are a marriage of fun and frustration, but you’ll discover the fun and joy always win. In six weeks, no matter what your beginning skill level, you’ll gain an understanding of the tools and methods to improve and develop your skills with acrylics.
Wednesdays, September 10 - October 15, 10 a.m.-noon. Tuition: $90. A supply list will be provided when registering.


09/18 - 10/23 - The Color of Comfort, Texture of Love: Creating an Evocative Home Environment with Gina Meredith
Learn to use the tools of design with courage and confidence to create a rich and personally evocative home environment. Whether painting one room or designing an entire house, bring your project to this six-session course taught by Gina Meredith, whose home was showcased at the 2008 Tour of Homes. Develop your ability to generate thrilling and useful project ideas that express who you are and what you care about. End the course with a concrete plan for completion of you home project.

09/19 - Harvesting for Rustic Furniture with Thome George
Take a field trip with rustic furniture maker Thome George, who will guide you to a local spot in the woods and show you how to pick out material to make rustic furniture pieces. The class is open to anyone interested in making rustic furniture.
Friday, September 19, 1-3 p.m. Cost: $35


9/20 & 21 - Rustic Furniture for Intermediate/Advanced Students with Thome George
For students who have taken Thome George’s beginner classes, this two-day course will focus on beginning to build a side chair. Students may finish the piece at home.
Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuition: $190 (includes supplies)


10/4 - Buckskin Sewing Basics with Katie Russell
Learn leather sewing techniques using traditionally tanned deerskin, under the guidance of a local primitive skills enthusiast. The class will discuss the brain tanning process and the merits of buckskin as a natural sustainable material. You will learn several stitches useful for crafting with leather while creating a small piece to take home. Each student will be provided roughly one square foot of buckskin, plus all needed materials. Bring a hammer and sharp scissors if possible.

10/14, 16, 21 & 23 - Basic Portrait Drawing with Sean McCabe
Students will learn basic to intermediate portrait drawing skills, including setting up a portrait, drawing from a model, and using the right side of the brain drawing technique. Charcoal will be the main medium, with additional instruction on drawing with pen. Sean McCabe is a working artist, accomplished climber, and has won numerous awards for his inspirational teaching. Class will be held in the Liberty Bell art room
Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 14, 16, 21 & 23, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuition: $65. A supply list will be provided when registering.


11/4, 6, 11 & 13 - Advanced Portrait Drawing with Sean McCabe
This class offers an opportunity for basic portrait class graduates and experienced artists to refine and expand their portrait drawing skills. The primary medium will be charcoal, with opportunities to experiment with color and abstract styles. Class will be held in the Liberty Bell art room.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 4, 6, 11 & 13, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuition: $65. A supply list will be provided when registering.


10/8 & 15 - Wreath Making with Pam Marvin
Create unique fall and winter wreaths to decorate your home this season. Students will learn to make wreaths using serviceberry and other natural materials in the first class, and will explore design and decoration in the second session. Bring your own dried grasses or flowers to class if you’d like to, but there will be plenty of materials on hand to decorate your wreath.

11/8 - Holiday Gifts: Creating Jewelry with Cathy Stern
Create personal holiday gifts for friends and relatives using a variety of colorful pearls and gems. Fresh water pearls from China and semi-precious stones will be available for children to design bracelets, earrings and necklaces. For ages 4 and up.

11/15 - Holiday Ornaments with Ellie Easley
Ellie will offer kids a variety of materials to create ornaments as gifts for parents and other special people—including themselves! When the ornaments are done, students will decorate paper to wrap them in. For ages 8-12.
